Shubman Gill responded to critics with a woman Test Century in Angalad

Shubman Gill broke a century on Captain debut to command India in Headingley.
Shubman Gill kick started his captaincy career with scintillating century on Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 1st Test. Coming into bat after Lunch, Gill took the attack to the English attack in a demolition job. It marked his first century in SENA Tests, marking a major milestone.

Shubman Gill aces captaincy debut with 1st SENA century
Shubman Gill had the big shoes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to fill and he did so in style in the IND vs ENG 1st Test. Batting at No.4 for the first time, Gill stroked a scintillating century at Headingley to put India in pole position. It was his first century in SENA countries, dispelling any doubts of his suitability overseas.

Gill had never score more than 20 in his four previous innings in England. He averaged under 25 overseas, and doubts regarding his suitability as captain existed. However in Headingley, Gill smashed the England attack to all parts of the ground.
The Indian captain was imperious early in his innings, striking at close to a 100 SR. He stitched a century stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal, piling 123 runs in the 2nd session. Gill reached his half-century in 56 balls and converted in into a century in 140 balls.
Gill joins Gavaskar, Kohli in elite list
Shubman Gill became the fourth Indian captain to score a century on captaincy debut on Friday. The 25-year-old joins Virat Kohli, Vijay Hazare and Sunil Gavaskar in an elite list. Among the list of legends, Gill is the youngest to the milestone, etching his name in the record books.
