Shubman Gill-Gautam serious era begins! India gear in the first training session before England test

The first Test match between India and England will begin on 20 June at Headingly, Leeds.
The new era in the Indian Test team has finally begun. Following the retirement of Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma, the mantle has been shifted to Shubman Gill, who is yet to make his Test captaincy debut. Gautam Gambhir is under pressure as well following series losses to New Zealand and Australia. However, all this can be redeemed with a successful England tour for which the Men in Blue has already started the preparations.
WATCH: India team hit the ground running
After jetting off to England from Mumbai via Dubai airport a couple of days ago, the entire team landed in London. They are currently at the training centre in the capital city. In a video shared by the BCCI on Sunday (June 8) morning, the entire team was seen performing drills and adapting to the conditions.
India’s new strength and conditioning coach, Adrian le Roux, has joined the team as well, as seen in the video. He has replaced Soham Desai, who quit his job a week ago. Desai was part of India’s two superb ICC trophy wins – the T20 World Cup 2024 and the 2025 ODI Champions Trophy.
Before the all-important five-match Test series kicks off at Headingley on June 20, the senior team will play an intra-squad match against India A. On June 13, the Shubman Gill-led team will get into action to prepare for the major World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 series. It will be a warm-up practice game in Beckenham.
