Shubman Gill faced Jasprit Bumrah in the nets after the captaincy duality of Indes vs Ang Test

Both Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah were in dispute to replace Rohit Sharma, before Gill got the node.
After battling it out for captaincy, Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah faced off in the nets ahead of the India vs England Test series. Bumrah was Rohit Sharma’s deputy in Australia but it was Gill who was chosen to succeed. Now ahead of his first assignment, Gill padded up against his best bowler in a mouth watering duel in the nets.
India vs England: Gill vs Bumrah in the nets
India captain Shubman Gill is leaving no stone unturned in his preparations for the India vs England Tests. In his first series as captain, the 25-year-old is keen to make a mark and took to the nets during India’s training camp in Beckenham. Gill straight up faced off against Jasprit Bumrah, preparing for the vigours of an England series.
Bumrah looked in good shape, coming on the back of a good IPL season. The Indian spearhead was razor sharp and targeted the channel outside off stump for Gill. He also cramped his skipper for room with quick back-of-the-length delivery. Gill meawnhile showed good judgement, leaving the swing deliveries outside off on length.
Jasprit Bumrah will not play all 5 Tests, but he is easily the best bowler in India’s squad. The Indian spearhead has an aura about him, and he was in full flow at the Kent Cricket Ground. He was constantly in chat with coach Morne Morkel, bowling seaming lengths and nailing surprise yorkers.
England might not have James Anderson or Stuart Broad in their attack anymore, but Shubman’s record outside Asia is patchy. Now entrusted with leadership, Gill has to shoulder the batting and there is no better preparation than facing the best bowler in the world.
