San Jose Shark on Thursday signed a free agent Defenseman Dimitri Orlov for a two -year, $ 13 million contract.
On July 23, at the age of 34, Orlov recorded 28 points (six goals, 22 aids), a plus -16 rating and average of about 20 minutes in 76 games with a Carolina storm in the 2024–25 season. He was playing on a two -year last season, a contract of $ 15.5 million.
“Dimitri is a strong, two-way defenseman who brings materiality and versatility on ice,” said Mike Grier, General Manager of Shark. “They have a treasure of NHL’s experience, both are in regular season and playoffs, and their Stanley Cup Championships are a valuable additional for our team. We are happy to find it.”
A Stanley Cup champion with Washington, Orlov, has a total of 327 points (76 goals, 251 aid) in 867 career games with capitals, Boston Bruce and Hurricane. He was selected by Washington in the second round of the 2009 NHL draft.
