‘Shant and Rachna’ Shubman Gill gets thumbs from Sachin Tendulkar

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar praised Shubman Gill for his captaincy and batting, saying that both qualities appreciated each other
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on India cricket team captain Shubman Gill for his technique in the ongoing ENG vs IND Test series. The Punjab batter is already the leading run-getter in the series, with a double century, a 150 and a century to his name. Ahead of the ENG vs IND 3rd Test at Lord’s, Tendulkar credited Gill for being calm and composed, both as a batter and as a captain.
Sachin can’t find any fault in Gill
Speaking to BBC Sport, Sachin claimed that the England bowlers were trying to figure out Gill’s weak areas but there weren’t any. He said that while it is normal for batters to improve their technique with the changes in the game, Gill seemed like he was in total control.
“I think he is batting exceptionally well. Looks calm and composed, in total control. There are no weak areas that you see in his batting. As far as captaincy is concerned, they go hand in hand. So, if you’re batting well, you lead the team better, take correct decisions and vice versa,” Sachin said.
Gill’s first win as Test captain was studded with memories. He first became the only Indian to have a 200 & 150 in the same game to his name. He then went on to lead India to their first-ever win at the Edgbaston and their biggest overseas win. By the virtue of that win, India managed to level the series 1-1.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing 4th Test, Sachin Tendulkar kick-started proceedings by ringing the bell at the Lord’s. India were asked to bowl first by England captain Ben Stokes. Nitish Kumar Reddy turned out to be a wildcard as he got rid of both openers Crawley and Duckett in the same over. Thereafter, it has been a struggle for India to get wickets.
