According to media reports, the Australian players who have returned home after the IPL suspension and they do not want to return to India for the remaining high-profile tournament, they will get support from Cricket Australia. All Australian players in various IPL teams have already reached home. Only a few former players such as Ricky Ponting and Brad Hadine, who are among the coaching staff, are still in India. Other coaches including Justin Langer and Mike Hussey have also returned due to border tension between India and Pakistan. But the players can be asked to return as the IPL is ready to resume within this week after the ceasefire announcement on Saturday.
‘Sydney Morning Herald’ announced, “shake Australian players will be defended by Cricket Australia.
“Fear and concern remained the prevalent feelings among the Australian players … as everyone made their way from the IPL, which still likes Ricky Ponting and Brad Hadin among the coaching staff in India.” Not just security issues, players are being pressurized to return to the tournament and then also concerned about the possibility of the IPL being frozen from the future versions.
The report said, “In that light … CA will defend the rights of players so that your calls about returning to the IPL based on the case, considering that their decisions should not be held against them for the future.”
The report said that there is also a tight cricket calendar issue and if the IPL is originally beyond the May 24 plan. All Australian players will require a fresh “no objection” certificate from the CA to return, the report states.
Test players such as Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Captain Pat Cummins and fellow fast bowler Josh Hazlewood have to spend a few days at home before flying in UK before the World Test Championship Final against Lord’s against Lord’s against Lord’s.
The West Indies will be followed by three-testing tour immediately after that match.
