Shafali Verma returns to the T20I side for the England Tour, Fit-Fer-then Yatika Bhatia also comes back

Attacking opener Shafali Verma returned to India’s colors after a gap of seven months on Thursday, as he was included in the National T20I squad for a five -match series against England starting on 28 June at Trent Bridge. Shafali was out of the Indian team since October 2024, but did not find a place in the ODI squad for a three -match series against England, which was also declared on this day. Perhaps, this season’s Women’s Premier League (WPL) for Delhi capitals, her fine outing, where she scored 304 runs from nine matches on a strike-rate of 152.
In fact, she was the fourth highest run-match in WPL behind the NAT-Skyre Brant, Allice Perry and Hail Mathews and Indian batsmen.
Another player was wicketkeeper Yatika Bhatia to make a comeback, who was sidelined due to a wrist injury during the women’s Big Bash League since last November.
Unlike Shafali, Yastica is a part of the ODI team. In addition to Yastika, both squads have the second wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh.
While India named the 15-member T20 team, the ODI team consists of 16 players and both teams will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, which will be assisted by Smriti Madhana.
Young opener Pratika Rawal, who recently made history by becoming the fastest batsman in history to score 500 runs in women’s ODIs in Sri Lanka, has been included in 50 overs.
Rawal broke the record of Charlotte Edwards of England, who slammed 500 ODI runs in nine innings, while the Indian achieved feat in eight matches.
The tour of England will begin with five T20i, followed by three Odis in Southampton, London and Chester-Le-Steret, which will begin on July 15.
