The PCB’s plan to conduct the remaining Pakistan Super League matches in the United Arab Emirates may not be successful as the Emirates Cricket Board is not likely to “approve its request” due to the border tension between India and Pakistan. A source of development of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has indicated that the board is ready to reject the request from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which has already announced that PSL will be held in UAE. The source has “cited the safety concerns between India and Pakistan.” It turns out that recent developments have made the Emirates Cricket Board “considered as an ally of PCB”, which believes that PSL may suggest hosting the task of hosting.
The source said, “The Emirates Cricket Board has enjoyed a strong relationship with the BCCI in recent years, hosting the ‘India’ edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, with the IPL versions as well as the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.”
Dubai is also the headquarters of the International Cricket Council, currently under the leadership of former BCCI Secretary J Shah.
The source said, “The UAE has a diverse South Asian population that enjoys cricket. Hosting a tournament like PSL amidst such stressful circumstances can reduce harmony, pose security risks and shake unnecessary friction between communities.”
The PCB said this morning that the last eight PSL fixtures, which were earlier determined in Rawalpindi, Multan and Lahore, will now be staged in the UAE.
A statement said that the schedule of matches will be shared in the appointed time, underlining the dates and places.
On Thursday, PCB closed a scheduled match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings at the Rawalpindi Stadium.
