The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former Australian speedster Sean Tat as the pace bowling coach of the national team by November 2027. The 42 -year -old replaced Andre Adams, who participated with the team after a brief and weak term. Tat brings with him as a former international cricketer and as a bowling coach. A member of Australia’s 2007 World Cup winning squad, Tat played 59 international matches in forms and took 95 wickets with his express speed and raw aggression. In his coaching trip, he has previously worked with Pakistan, West Indies and Afghanistan, attaining valuable insight into cricket cultures.
Speaking on his appointment, Tat expressed his enthusiasm about joining Bangladesh’s set-up, which he described as “new era” for the team, especially in the fast bowling department.
Tat said, “This is a good time to join the Bangladesh cricket team, if you want, a new era,” Tat said. “It has recently been talked about many times – young talent with fast bowlers – which is very good. It is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects to bring results to talent, which is very high with the fast bowling group and the most important thing is that the team is winning more.”
He also highlighted the occasion of working with head coach Phil Semans, which was a compelling reason to play the role. He said, “The opportunity to work with Phil Semans is equally exciting and I am eager to travel ahead.”
The appointment of TAT is a new beginning after the disappointing performance of Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy, which was part of both Andre Adams’s short -term tenure. Adams joined the team in March 2024, but failed to create a permanent impact, especially struggling for stability and penetration on the world stage with Bangladesh’s fast bowling unit.
