Lhuan-dre Pretorius youngest to smash century on Test debut for South Africa
Lhuan-dre Pretorius etched his name in the record books in his Test debut for South Africa. The 19-year-old walked into bat with his side in all sorts of trouble, having slipped to 23/3. However, the young Rajasthan Royals star showed no signs of nerves in Bulawayo. He alongside Dewald Brevis, took the attack to the Zimbabwe bowling in a stunning assault.
Pretorius’ counter-attack took the hosts by surprise and he soon reached his half-century. The left-hander was lucky after not being given out on 30, but made most of his opportunity on Saturday. He eventually reached 3 figures before Tea, becoming the youngest to score a century for South Africa on Test debut. He broke a 61-year-old national record, with Graeme Pollock holding the honour for the youngest centurion for the Proteas.
