
Rory McLoy of Northern Ireland shot 4-under-Burbar 66 in the third round of the Genesis Scottish Open, drawing on the lead part of the lead on Saturday in North Bervik, Scotland.
Mcilroy, bidding to win the tournament for the second time in three years, is tied at the Renaissance Club at the Renaissance Club with the second round leader Chris Gotterup over the leaderboard. Gotterup had a 21-foot put on the last hole, with a chance to become a single leader, but it was barely away from the mark, so he settled for 70 of the third round.
The pair goes in the final round of Sunday, marking the final tune-up before the next week’s open championship, with a two-stroke lead.
Wyndham Clark made an initial charge and posted 66, with Jake Kannap (68) and Marco Penn (69) and Matte Fitzpatric (69) drawn to 9 under 9 with the English pair.
Mcilroy, who won the 2023 tournament in 15 undergrains, played the last four holes in Boe-Free 4 U-U-U-U-under.
Gotorup was coming out of 61 on Friday, but he had a bogie on Nos 2 and 14.
Penn and Fitzpatrick, playing together in the second-to-eye pair, moved to the 18th position, which had a chance to pull into a part of the lead and instead they took both the bogies.
Harris English, whose 66 matched McLero and Clarke for the third round of best scores, is less than 7 in seventh of eight golfers.
The Harry Hall of England, which was combined with Gotorup, struggled with a 74 and fell under 5 and tied to the 20th place.
Scotland’s defending champion Robert McIntire on Saturday cut off his 72 and put it in 1 over.
