Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli urged to take retirement U-turn; “No time to think about yourself”

Former India cricketer Yogaj Singh said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from Test cricket earlier this month, would have to cancel their decision to save the country’s red ball cricket. Rohit and Kohli’s retirement leaves the side without their most senior batsmen on the upcoming England tour, where India is scheduled to play a five -match test series starting from June 20. The 67 -year -old former cricketer, who has given coaching for more years to his son Yavraj Singh to current players like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.
“Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should return retirement to save Indian Test cricket. It’s not time to think about themselves – this nation is about fans, and deep emotions are for sports. Virat still has at least ten years of cricket left. As he comes to me, I ensure that he returns on Tuesday.”
The experienced cricketer said that the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) should support the players during their difficult times so that the players do not bend down for increasing pressure.
“In 2011, players like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag were dropped without any clear reason. When Yuvraj retired, I rebuked him – I told him not to give them under pressure.
He said, “BCCI should act like a parents – should protect and support its players, not ego or politics.”
Yograj said that he called his son, Yuvraj and asked Kohli to not retire from Test cricket and later regret the decision.
“I told Yuvi to call Virat and told him, ‘I made the same mistake. I am sure they (Rohit and Virat) will look back and regret it a few years down. Because one day, the frustration will essentially on the surface – but what will happen then?”
Kohli bid 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries with an impressive average of 46.85 in 123 matches for his Test career for his Test career, while Rohit attracted the screen on his red ball career with 4301 runs in 67 matches, including 12 centuries and 18 half-centers.
