Whatever was not done behind the curtain was not made public, but it is reported that Ajit Agkar -led selection committee was not keen to give the Hitman the responsibility of captaincy.
In a report by Cricbuzz, Rohit sent an email to BCCI’s top brass on Wednesday evening, making his stand on red-ball cricket clear. As Rohit resorted to social media to declare his decision, chief selector Ajit Aggarkar was seen in a long phone call in the Cricket Club (CCI) in Mumbai. Whether he is talking to Rohit or in other BCCI top management, however, is not known.
Rohit made the decision public, as the decision continued the decision to raise questions about the sudden call requirement.
Rohit Indian Premier League (IPL) reached behind a worrying form in the 2025 season, but did well after a slow start for the campaign.
In 11 matches so far for Mumbai Indians, he scored an average of 30 runs. While this is not a number to proud, Rohit has shown significant improvement after a string of poor performances in the first 5 matches.
The 38 -year -old decision to leave the test format may also adversely affect his ODI career. It is believed that Rohit is keen to continue playing for India until the 2027 ODI World Cup. Even in his test retirement post on Instagram, the initial batsman made his intentions clear about the 50 -over format.
However, fitness and match exercises can become a challenge for Rohit to maintain their form while playing the same format.
