Rockies Edge Marlins 3-2 to series series

Hunter Goodman had two hits, Kyle Freeland picked in the seventh inning, and Colorado Rockies defeated Miami 3–2 on Wednesday, so that the three-game chain could be swept from Marlins.

This was the first time Colorado has a series of series in San Diego from 13–15 May 2024.

Freeland (1-8) allowed two unarmed runs in 6 1/3 innings to win their first win since September 8. Tyler Kinle took the ninth ninth to earn his second sev. Colorado has won three directly this season.

Herberto Hernandez had two solo-his first two hits of his leading league career-and Cal Quantryl (3-6) faced defeat against his former team.

The Rockies took a lead in the first innings when Thero Estrada killed an-out double and Goodman chased with Triple.

Quantril, who spent 2024 with Colorado and led the team with eight wins, gave Keston Hura one-out single in the second innings, but retired the next 10 batsmen. The string ended when Tyler Freeman and Jordan Beck hit the back-to-back doubles 2–0 with two outs in the fifth.

Quantril gave two runs on five hits in his five innings.

Freeland was under complete control through six innings. He gave two-out single to Connor Norbi in the first innings and hit Dane Myers in the second innings, but immediately chose him. He retired the next eight batsmen before reaching an informed single in Hernandez Fifth.

Rockies raised the lead from Jenson Junk in the sixth. Goodman led a double, went to second place on Ryan McMahon’s flyout and scored at Brenton Doyle’s sacrifice fly.

Marlins arrived in Freeland in the seventh.

Norbby reached an error, Eric Wagaman hit a ground-colored double and Hernandez went into a run with a single. After Jake Bird gave relief to Freeland, Wagaman scored on a force, Liam Hicks doubled to the left, but Jesus Sanchez was thrown out at home in an attempt to score in advance.
