Pete Rose caused more damage to Major League baseball, as they did well, even if any of his wrong supporters believed you, which is why Commissioner Rob Manfred never removed him from the unqualified list permanently, while daily was alive.
Can’t manfed, and perhaps the roses of your sins should not be absent. No matter no matter – Manfred is demanding a compromise that may be posthumously to which he wanted with everyone: joining the Hall of Fame of Baseball.
Long after the death, Rose’s family made a formal appeal to Manfred – which has since been informally supported by President Donald Trump – to permanently remove Rose from the disqualified list. The task of moving away from the list will not make itself more than any presidential post in the hall of fame, but Manfred may find a way to work around the daily restriction and be diverted for coochtown gears.
Speaking at a meeting of Associated Press Sports Editors on Monday, Manfred said that he would “release a ruling” and not “pocket veto” on the daily case, although he did not provide several details. It is difficult to imagine that Manfred, whatever is not a lawyer, will deny the example and reverse decades by the office of Rose, which was placed in permanently unqualified list in 1989.
MLB banned daily-all-time leader of the league in a 17-time all-star and base hit-because it was found that he plays gambling on the Cincinnati Reds Games in which he played and managed. On several occasions since 2015, after becoming Commissioner, Manfred refused to appeal daily. The most recent refusal came in November 2022, when Rose sent a letter to Manfred to beg. TMZ reprinted it.
Manfred replied with clarity: “I believe when you bet on baseball, from the point of view of Major League baseball, you are permanently unqualified.”
Manfred meant that he had said in the last June, when he placed someone else in an unqualified list to violate MLB’s gambling rules. He hit San Diego Padress Infielder/Outfield Tukupita Markano with a lifetime ban – similar to roses. Four other players received annual suspension for gambling crimes. Yes, Manfred wants the approved MLB to generate income from the approved MLB gambling. No, he does not want his players to make the game alive by betting on sports.
Another thing that Manfred does not want clearly: the loan must be known as a person, who is out of the hall of fame. He will show too much to someone else responsible for him. Here and whether Manfred said in 2022, when he first denied:
“I clarified that I did not think that the work of that baseball list was similar to the eligibility criteria for the Hall of Fame,” said Manfred. “This remains my situation. I think it is a conversation that is actually on the hall of fame board. I am on that board, and it is not appropriate for me to come in front of that conversation.”
The board of directors of the hall made a rule in 1991 – Rose’s name first appears on the BBWAA ballot – that any person appearing in the permanently unqualified list of MLB will also be disqualified for the hall of fame. The hall made itself a rule for daily, although it came to the forefarring implemented to anyone else in the Jackson, seven other black sox and permanently unqualified list.
So now why, after 33-Plus years, will the hall board be interested in canceling the rule? Just because it has died everyday? Sholes who died in 1951.
More likely, it is to be done with Manfred with interested in changing the rules of the hall as it is posted by the daily family and the President. How the rules work, it is the right of manfred as the commissioner, will not allow the hall of fame to consider even daily. But if Manfred – as one of the 17 persons in the board of the hall – can persuade the body to cancel their own rules, then to refuse the restricted players, it protects themselves from the heat.
If the banned players become eligible, the next step for the daily would be his name nominated by the historic observation committee of the hall, which was approved by the Baseball Writers Association of America and a board of a group and hall board. If he crosses the obstacle, then daily the 16-member Classic Baseball era will get a place in the committee that is found in December 2027. Twelve votes in his favor and by 2028, Rose will finally have its day in Superstown.
None of this is certain, but if this happens, many fans will be happy. Voting on roses is usually in its favor. Is this because of fans who do not just care that Rose broke the rules and hurt the integrity of the game? Or they don’t think what he did was bad? That he “bets only to win on Reds,” which is not necessary? Or is the gambling not worse than players who take steroids? This is one or more of those things.
By removing roses from permanently unqualified list, Manfred will approve taset to bet someone else with baseball. But if Manfred can get the hall of fame to do his dirty work – almost dared to come out and really, saying, “Peat Rose, we don’t want you” – this will give him a historic cover.
Manfred also does not need to do anything that is bold. If he can show that the board only considered changing its rule, Manfred can turn to Rose’s family, President and unhappy fans and says: “Hey, it’s not on me. I performed my best.”
It is appropriate to say that the Hall of Fame had made an easy outsider with daily in all these years due to their rule against banned players. Again – Why should the Hall of Fame not have a rule against banned players? He did terrible job to hurt the game. Or why MLB banned them?
Perhaps worse (somehow), daily deception contaminated the game because he pretended to be almost sacred. And do you know that daily illegal activity hurt the most? Hall of Fame. Rose completely eliminated them – in the loss of traffic alone.
Manfred talked humble by meeting with Rose’s daughter. He did this again after meeting with the President at the White House as he wanted to talk about daily and whatever it was. All this will be a lot of political maneuver for manfred to navigate, keep Pete Rose restricted on where he is, and he looks like a good man.
This is the best case for the good of Major League baseball. It is fun how Manfred had no issue of not for roses when he was alive. But now, suddenly, when Rose’s family and President Trump gave the amount to repeat the requests, Manfred lost his supply.
It would be a shame if it finds a plaque in the coperstown with roses. His story is already told in the museum part of the building. It is not that he is excluded from history. It may not be probably.
But if it ends with the hall of fame, it asks Rose to move away forever, Manfred’s move may be worth it.
