Rishabh Pant’s surgeon unnecessarily warned Somarasalt festival

Rishabh Pant has been warned that his somarasolt ceremony is unnecessary.

The surgeon who treated Rishabh Pant and monitored his recovery has opined that the star’s somersault celebration was perfect but unnecessary. The physician has worked in close quarters with the southpaw following a horrific car crash in December 2022. Having already seen Pant perform the celebration multiple times post his recovery, the doctor had his say on the impact it could have on his body.

Rishabh Pant’s doctor says no to somersaults

In an interview with The Telegraph, Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala informed that Pant was a trained gymnast who was agile and flexible. He said that although it was a well practised and perfect move it was not necessary.

Rishabh trained as a gymnast – and so although he looks large, he is quite agile, and he does have a lot of flexibility. And that’s why he’s been doing those somersaults of late. It’s a well-practised and perfected move – unnecessary though!,” he said.

Rishabh Pant was extremely lucky to be alive – extremely lucky. To be in an accident like this, where the car actually overturns and blows up, the risk of death is extremely high,” he emphasized.

Earlier, in an interview on Sony Sports, Pant had explained the rationale behind his new celebration. The southpaw revealed that he had traied in gynamstics during school and that he had been doing somersaults since he was a child.

“I had three celebrations in mind. One was ‘let the bat do the talking.’ But then I thought, let me go with my own style. I’ve been doing somersaults since I was a kid. I trained in gymnastics during school,” Pant revealed.

Pant did not have the brightest of the start to the year, having said that majority of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was not a good outing for him. That was followed by the Champions Trophy snub and a poor run in IPL 2025 despite being the most paid player. However, Pant finally stormed back to form with twin hundreds in ENG vs IND 1st Test in Leeds.
