Rishabh Pant removes fear of injury before India vs England test

Pants have scored half of their career test against England, two of which have come in England.

You can breathe a sigh of relief. Rishabh Pant isn’t injured. The Indian Test vice-captain had suffered a blow on his left arm while batting in the nets on Sunday (May 8). Team India have set up camp at Beckenham, where they’ll play an intra-squad match from June 13 to 16.

Rishabh Pant’s injury scare

Pant had already faced throwdowns and had moved into the nets for a proper batting practice session. It was then that he was struck in the arm. The medical team rushed towards the wicketkeeper as he winced in pain. An ice pack was applied immediately and his arm was bandaged as well.

Post the incident, Pant didn’t return to the nets. His practice session was over. Everyone started to panic. Apart from being India’s vice-captain and wicketkeeper, Pant is the second most experienced batter Team India has. He’s got two Test hundreds in England. His experience and explosiveness are needed to win.

All good now

Luckily, the blow didn’t cause a serious injury. As per Vimal Kumar, Pant is back in the nets on Monday (May 9). His mobility seemed as good as it’s ever been and he was taking spinners down for fun in the nets.

We don’t know whether Pant has his arm bandaged still. Considering the weather in England, all the players have got their full sleeves and sweaters on.

But seeing that he’s batting, it’s safe to assume things aren’t bad. If he feels any pain, it might be minimal. Otherwise, captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with the medical team, wouldn’t have allowed him to return to the nets.
