Rishabh Pant’s IPL 2025 campaign has been forgotten to say at least. He was selected in the IPL 2025 auction by the Lucknow super veterans owned by Sanjeev Goenka for Rs 27 crore – the highest franchise has been paid for a player in the history of the tournament. But Star wicketkeeper-Better scored just 135 runs in 12 matches with his poorest IPL at an average of 12.27. LSG even failed to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
In the middle of this, a journalist posted on X: “Breaking News: LSG is most likely to release Rishabh Pant ahead of IPL 2026. LSG management feels that 27 crore is very high.”
The pants have strongly reacted to observation.
Pants said in response to the post, “I think fake news gives more traction to the material, but everything is not made around it. A little meaning and reliable news will help in creating fake news with the agenda. Thanks is a good day. Let’s be responsible and intelligent what we put on social media,” Pants said in response to the post.
Sanjeev Goenka, owner of Lucknow Super Veterans, had high hopes from his franchise, especially when he managed to bring a marquee player like Rishabh Pants into the team. LSG had a mega auction to build a headline last year, which saw him a rope in the wicket-keeper batsman for a record-brakeing fee of INR 27 crore. Despite the inclusion of top players like Nicholas Gorn, Mitchell Marsh, Eden Markram, Rishabh Pant, David Miller, etc., the franchise could not end in the last four.
The LSG had a glimpse of the hope of reaching the knockout, but the defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday excluded him from the controversy. The franchise’s future plans, especially in relation to captain Rishabh Pant, floods social media, owner Sanjeev Goenka excluded his hearts, highlighting his learning from the campaign.
“This is a challenging second half of the season, but there is a lot to take in the heart. The moments of soul, effort, and excellence give us a lot to build. There are two games. Let’s play proudly and finish strongly. #LSGVSSSRH,” Goenka wrote X (East Twitter).
