Australian Richard Green created a long eagle put and finished his round with a shirt to fire 9-Ender-Burbar 63 with a Berdy and take a two-shot lead after a round of tradition of regions on Thursday in Birmingham, Ala.

Green, who has won the PGA Tour Champions so far, gave himself a good start towards winning his first senior major championship at the Grustone Golf and Country Club.

He sits two strokes ahead of a quartet bound in 7-under 65: Jerry Kelly, Stewart Sink, Steven Alkor of New Zealand and Charlie Y in South Korea.

“Everything was going well,” Green said. “I actually started well, it was actually hit very closely during the round. Just was done as a result of a lot of work.”

Green had dried six birds through 11 holes in the 5 13th hole before 3 holes. The Lefty arrived in green in green and rolled into a rapidly growing put for the eagle and jumped under 8 and in the only possession of the lead.

He birds before his next hole, a par-3, bogies number 16 and birding number 18.

“Look, this is a marathon,” Green said. “It is difficult to play terrible golf every day, but definitely try. “It looks great and there are some memories fresh from winning there, but it’s not that you can go there and simply sleep your way to win,” Sink said. “You’ve still got to do the right things. One of the reasons we got a win (on incurability) and the reason is what we have to do here and move forward and we will hope that we will win something else. But there is no guarantee.”

Alkar won 50 in his name and nine on the old circuit, but only one major, 2022 Senior PGA Championship. He landed for a smooth start for the week for a smooth start with a bogie on his card and a smooth start.

“Everything is very solid,” he said. “You have just tried to bring it to Fairway here because you never know, you can get a mud ball in that rough and anything can happen. So I did it very well while keeping it in the fair and gave myself some opportunities.”

Germany’s Alex Sejka, who won the event in 2021, ranks sixth after 66. These were Yang of South Korea tied in 5-under 67, Thomas Byorn of Denmark and Greg Chalmers of Australia.
