‘Retired on social media …’: East-Teammate slam BCCI to not bid farewell to Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on social media, after reports that he would not captain India in his upcoming five -match examination series against England in June. This attracted the curtain on the career of the 67 Tests, of which he led 24, and even took India to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwari has surprised the fact that Rohit declared his retirement on social media, and the farewell test is not being received.

The twist said, “If Rohit Sharma had retired not on social media but after playing on the field, it would have been more fitting-off. It would have felt better for all of us as well.”

The Teevory said, “Look at his record as a test captain, it’s great. They have won 12 Tests, lost 9, and draw 3. So there is no doubt about their success rate.”

Rohit’s retirement comes after the longest decline of the game in India’s two most recent series. Rohit faced a major decline with the bat, which turned out to be 0–3 at home by New Zealand with India and defeated 1-3 in Australia under his leadership.

The fact is that India’s only test victory in Australia came under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, who did not play in a match, probably did not help in cases.

However, Rohit retired as India’s second most successful Test captain in terms of winning percentage of all captains, who has led 10 or more matches.

The twist also said that Rohit appears to be a popular person among the youth in the dressing room.

He was a very popular leader in this group of boys. If you see, the young players also wanted to play under him. We always hear him saying in our interviews, “I really enjoyed playing under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.”

A few months ago, one of India’s largest Test bowlers, R Ashwin declared his retirement without much pomp. Ashwin announced this in the midst of Australia Tour, till then played just one match in three matches.

As Rohit steps aside, there will be a debate about who considers the captaincy of the test. Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have a pre-leadership experience, but Shubman Gill is also believed to have age on them, and they have been appointed as vice-captains in white ball formats.
