Report: Darian Williams withdraws from NBA draft, lives in the portal

The college basketball transfer portal retained one of one of its marki names with Darian Williams, allegedly withdrawn from the NBA draft.

After earning the first team All-Big 12 Samman in Texas Tech, Williams was one of the several players who tested the NBA draft waters while remaining in the NBA transfer portal. According to a CBS Sports report, he officially went through the NBA Workout Circuit, evaluating his options before removing his name from the draft on Tuesday.

Williams took an average of 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assistance and 1.3 styling per game in the previous season, helping red reders reach the elite eight and elevate their NBA draft stock.

In its new year 100 career games in Nevada, Williams has an average of 11.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 aid and 1.3 theft.

The 6-Foot-6, 225-Pounder is given the status of the remaining third best player in the portal only by the ON3.com’s industry rankings behind the PJ Hagranty of Memphis and RJ Louis of St. John.

Williams could have returned to Texas Tech for their senior year, but expected to get strong interest as number 1-ranked small forward. Kansas and Northern Carolina states are allegedly among the leading programs for Williams, which must decide to transfer Sacramento native.

Williams is seen as a versatile forward and strong defender, but in 2024–25 only 34 percent of the shooting from the 3-point area needs to work on his jumping shot, marking the lowest percentage of his career.
