Reds P Andrew Abbott has a difficult task to follow the vs. Padress

Cincinnati Reds will look at Saturday to follow a dominated pitching performance with one and one when they send left -handed Andrew Abbott to the mound against San Diego Padress tour.
Nick Martinez retired 22 consecutive batsmen and settled the Reds on the 8–1 victory over Padress on Friday in a three-game series opener, before the ninth innings was bid without a hit.
Martinez was assisted by the power surge of Spencer Stere, who inspired Cincinnati in each of their first three at-bats to win his fourth win in five outings. Stear put a solo shot in the second innings, deepened to move ahead of the fourth and added a two-run explosion to the fifth for the first three—house game of Reds as JC Vinkar completed the tricks on 6 June 2021.
Cincinnati also got a boost from Austin Hayes, who had a RBI double and due to the fusion of the left leg, he scored a run in the fifth innings in his return from the 10-day injured list.
“We checked all the boxes very quickly,” Hazes said, per (Cincinnati) Enqueror. “I feel good. I feel comfortable in my at-bats. I was on time to fastball, hitting a couple and hitting the balls well.
“I like where I am.”
On Saturday, the Reds ball (7-1, 1.79 ERA) will be handed over to Abbott (7-1, 1.79 ERA), who retired the last 18 batsmen in a 4–1 win over St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. He allowed one run on four hits in seven innings, increasing his clan by increasing two earned runs in 21 2/3 frames in his last three starts.
“He can help us win,” Martinez said about Abbott. “That dog has found it in it.”
Abbott, 26, has shown that a small sample size versus San Diego. He owns a 1-0 record with 0.61 ERA, while two career outings (14 2/3 innings) take out 14 batsmen.
San Diego will provide opposition on the right hand Randy Waskes (3-4, 3.60) on Saturday.
Waske’s recorded his sixth straight no-decision on Sunday, despite that a career-high in seven innings against the Canasus City Royals scored two runs on five hits. He has been generous with a long ball, however, allows 11 homeers in his last nine matches.
The 26 -year -old Vaskes has so far faced Reds in his career.
Xander Bogaerts returned to the lineup in the series opener after the absence of a game due to a left shoulder injury. He upheld the injury by slipping the head in the house plate during Tuesday’s game against the citizens of Washington, and it is for the same shoulder that required surgery in the last season.
“I think we have talked to him about it. He is aware of it,” Padress manager Mike Shield said about the decision of the bogurts to make the head-first slide. “He is a 12 -year -old supporter, so he knows what he is doing. It is an instinct for him to slide the headfresp, (so) To adjust his shoulder is something that is on the table and I think he is aware.”
