‘Red-Flagged’ Harsh Bhogle, Simon Dole removed from IPL commentary in Eden Gardens

Taking a strong exception for his curator’s heinous criticism by Harsha Bhogle and Simon Dolle, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has turned two cricket experts red and requested BCCI to not comment for them for Kolkata Knight Riders Home matches. Bhogle and Dolal got entangled in controversy when the former New Zealand cricketer said KKR should transfer his franchise if the curator was not paying any attention to the team request for spin-friendly tracks, while Bhogle said that the team should take advantage of the house.
This was during a panel discussion on a popular website when KKR lost two of its first three domestic sports.
Influenced by his comments, Cab Secretary Naresh Ojha wrote to BCCI about 10 days ago, requesting the removal of Bhogle and Dole from the commentary panel for his domestic sports.
Interestingly, neither bhogale nor doll commentary were on duty during Monday’s game between KKR and Gujarat Titans.
However, sources close to Bhogle said that the famous commentator was not slot for any KKR game.
If the commentary roster was set before or after the formal complaint of the cab, it could not be confirmed.
A cab official told PTI, “Bhogle and Dole’s KKR is not part of the IPL commentary team for domestic matches. However, Eden can change the situation when Idon hosted the qualifier 2 on May 23 and 25 and the final.”
Ojha and Cab president Sneesh Ganguly were not available for a comment.
Both KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Chandrakant Pandit both expressed disappointment over not achieving the expected spin-friendly circumstances.
After the defeat of KKR for Lucknow super veterans in a high scoring game, where LSG posted 238/3 and banned KKR on 234/7, appearing disappointed when asked about the pitch at the post -match press conference.
“There was no help for the spinners, let me clarify this,” he said, adding further comments with them, can create a “Bawal” (controversy).
During an expert panel discussion, Dole suggested that the franchise considers rehabilitation if his requests about the pitch were not met.
“If she (curator) home team is not paying attention to what she wants … They are paying the fees of the stadium, then they are paying for what is going on in the IPL. If they are still not listening, just transfer to the franchise. Just transfer to the franchise. His job is not to pass an opinion on the game. It is not that he has paid.”
Bhogle echoed similar feelings: “If they are playing at home, they should get that kind of tracks for their bowlers. I saw something about what KKR Curator has said.” However, the cab stood firmly behind its curator Sujan Mukherjee, saying that it has followed the BCCI guidelines, which suggests that no franchise can affect or decide the nature of the pitch at one place.
KKR Think-Tank allegedly requested a more spin-friendly surface to support the choice of Varun Chakraborty, Sunil Narin and Moin Ali.
