San Jose earthquake benefited from his goal of a Mohammad Sofo and overcame a Dejuan Jones Red Card in a 1–1 draw with New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
Sofo’s error allowed San Jose (7-7-7, 28 points) to equalize in the 58th minute, but the earthquake was reduced to 10 players only six minutes later when Jones achieved the second booking of the match.
The Red Bulls (8-7-6, 30 digits) did not commit a lot of crime when capturing the man, but a possible target was erased on a close offsides call in the 83rd minute. Scene Neelis’s header was waved as Eric Maxim Choopo-Motor was estimated to be offered narrowly, and the officer’s call stood after New York’s collapse after a video review.
Emil Formsberg scored the only goal for the Red Bulls, the winner (0–1-3) in his last four matches. Red Bulls 11 are only 1-6-4 in regular season road matches.
San Jose, 4–1-6 in his last 11 matches, four matches (1-0-3) are on an unbeaten streak.
In the 19th minute, he went to work after taking a pass from Peter Strawd in the Forsburg box. While maneuvering between the three San Jose players quickly, Formsberg did a big job to make a place for himself, and then finalized the house for his seventh goal of the season.
The earthquake had some good opportunities at the NET Equilizer Sale at the beginning of the second half, but instead the binding goal came from Sofo in the 58th minute. Christian Aspinoza sent an ideal cross in front of Vitor Costa, whose touch was already going towards the open net before the deflection of Sofo.
As soon as it seemed that San Jose had achieved the speed, Jones was removed from the ground. Jones achieved his first booking in the 54th minute and then his second yellow card in the 64th for a dangerous tack on Straw.
New York defender Rahim Edwards found a red card on the substitute bench in the 87th minute, which was evicted for poor sportsmanship.
