After a midway suspension due to border tension between India and Pakistan, IPL 2025 is set to resume from May 17. The first match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This is going to be an important conflict for RCB as a win in this game will sealed their berths in the playoffs. Before the resumption, RCBs are working with a major setback as their captain Rajat Patidar is likely to remember the first match.

The Patidar suffered a finger injury against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and recovered from it. According to a report by The Indian Express, the right -handed batsman will need some time to recover from the injury.

It has also been reported that two matches against England Lions are also not likely to be part of a squad in India for the informal Test series, which will be held against England before India’s five -match Test series.

On the day of suspension, RCB was scheduled to face the Lucknow super veterans and the Patidar was designed to remember the game. In his absence, wicketkeeper Jitash Sharma was selected to lead RCB in that match.

However, there is still no confirmation about Patidar’s involvement in the match against KKR and if he goes out, it will be interesting to see who will donate the captain’s cap.

Patidar’s injury is not just that RCBs are working. His star Australia’s Pacer Josh Hazlewood is also recovering from a shoulder and most likely he will remember the rest of the tournament.

Hazelwood, who had a harsh rehabilitation to overcome a string of injuries on a side strain and calf issue earlier this year, was using the IPL as a platform to regain rhythm.

In addition, Hazelwood is also nominated in the Australia squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) against South Africa, which will be played from 11 June at Lord’s, London.
