Rays go to Toronto, place DH Yandi Diaz in a banned list with ‘passport issue’

Diaz will be available when the rays visit Miami on Friday, Cash said, the other baseless Brandon Lov was picked up on Tuesday night to fill the nominated hitter.
The rays recalled Infielder Coco Montes from Triple-e Durham to replace Diaz on the active roster.
“Surely disappointed that he is not here because he is such a large part of our team and crime, but is ready to bring him back to Miami,” Cash said on Tuesday in front of the opener against Blue Jais.
Diaz is batting. 238 This season with six domestic runs in 40 matches and 20 with RBI. He was the American League Batting Champion (.330) in 2023.
When Diaz jumps back into the lineup on Friday, the rays are also expecting the right fielder Josh Lowe to bring back from an oblique injury. Cash said that Love has not played after being injured Opening Day, but is only a few days from being ready to return.
