Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Rajat Patidar may be a good performance at home in IPL 2025, but his leadership has impressed former India player Robin Robin Uthappa. Continuing his bad form at home, RCB lost to Punjab Kings by 5 wickets in a rain-corrected game. This was an attempt to bat from the side as it posted only 95 for 9 in 14 overs after receiving the invitation to bat first. PBK reached home with 11 balls in the game. After the defeat, RCB captain Patidar admitted that his batting performance was not equal, in which the wickets fell quickly and there was a lack of partnership.

He blamed the decision to leave Devdutt Padikal in favor of the bowlers. Despite the pitch, the Patidar emphasized the need to bat better and win the total win.

He appreciated the bowling unit for his strong performance and the intention of the batsmen, and recognized the need to address batting errors.

“Initially, it was glued and two-books, but we could perform better as a batting unit. Partnership is important; we have lost wickets in quick intervals, and this is a big lesson for us. We had to make this change due to certain conditions (to leave the padicle). Overall the bowling unit is doing very well.

Reacting to this, Uthappa wrote on X, “Love was how Rajat took ownership of RCB’s batting. Show the great character as a leader. He will have to do the work about how he wins at home and if he does so he will become a front runner in captaincy conversation in Indian cricket.”

This was the third direct loss of RCB at home. This season is yet to win a game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. In particular, RCB has won four out of seven matches played in IPL 2025, but they all have come away from home. He has 8 points of his credit with a net run rate of +0.446.
