R Ashwin revealed that he considered her retirement: “When I did not start in Perth …”

Former Indian cricket team spinner R Ashwin finally revealed what happened to their international retirement through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Ashwin decided to declare his retirement after the third Test match at Gabba – a decision that surprised the cricket world. During a conversation on Mike Testing 1, 2, 3 ‘Podcast, Ashwin said that he wanted to retire after a Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai, where he scored in a century and claimed a six -wicket race. However, he decided to prolong his career due to his good form and sensation of results.

“To be very honest, I wanted to do it after my 100th Test. And then I thought, okay, let me go to the house season. Because, I mean, you are playing well, and you are doing wickets, you are scoring,” Ashwin told CSK batting coach Michael Hasi in Podcast.

He said, “I felt that it makes sense to play a little. I was having a lot of fun, but the whole hard yards that I was put to put myself in the park, physically and mentally, one of the most important things that was pulling me down was the family’s time,” he said.

Ashwin further claimed that not playing the first Test match against Australia in Perth took a emotional toll on it and indirectly motivated to consider retirement from international cricket.

“I thought I would probably be closed here with Chennai test. I finished the race for six-cicat and hundred. So when you are doing very well it is very difficult to leave it. So, I went with the chain, and we lost against New Zealand. So, one after the other, one after the other, it was just after going to Australia, I think I was looking at it.

“And when I did not start in Perth, it was liked, well, this whole cycle goes on again. People add very little value to what you are doing emotionally. They do not really believe that because your feelings are yours, and it doesn’t matter to someone else. So I was considering it, and then I thought it is perhaps, it’s time, it is time, he said.
