Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar feels that veteran all -rounder Ravichandran Ashwin may be released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in front of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. With just five wickets in seven matches, Ashwin failed to justify the amount of Rs 9.75 crore paid to signed him again in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The CSK on Wednesday, with out of the playoff race, after the damage to the Punjab Kings (PBK) at home, Bangar predicted that CSK could leave Ashwin and Pesar Maithhesh Pathirana to free their purse for IPL 2026 mini auction.
“Whether they maintain Ashwin or not, there is going to be another big question because it is the place where the money is closed. If they want to free their purse a little, then in this knowledge that they do not want to use Ashwin, they have used in this particular season. JISTAR.
On the other hand, CSK spinner Harbhajan Singh, on the other hand, slammed the team management not to use Ashwin properly, questioned the argument behind paying such a large amount for the experienced.
“Chennai did not choose the team on the basis of terms. Noor Ahmed, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja played together against Punjab Kings, could win the Chennai Super Kings matches. They were not paid Rs 10 crore for Ashwin.
He said, “He is not the only person who has not performed. Others are still playing despite their simple performance, but Ashwin is out of the team. He should have played against Punjab, as the ball was spinning,” he said.
