“Quiet and empty …”: Pakistan’s big comment on Virat Kohli’s test retirement

Former Pakistan cricketer and former-PCB president Ramiz Raja paid a heartfelt tribute to Virat Kohli on Monday, Indian batting giants a few moments after announcing their retirement from Test cricket. Kohli, one of the most prestigious figures of modern sports, brought down the curtain on a red ball career, which has re -defined India’s cricketing identity in the last decade. Their number speaks for themselves: 123 matches, 9,230 runs, 30 centuries, 31 half -centuries and an average 46.85. But this is the intention, aggression and pride with which he played which will be remembered more than just milestones. Talking to IANS, Raja said, “With his retirement, modern day Test cricket will feel quiet and empty, as he was its best spokesperson.”
The 36 -year -old confirmed the news at an emotional Instagram post, summarizing a trip that began in 2011 and spread to Indian whites for 14 unforgettable years.
“It has been 14 years when I first wore Bagi Blue in Test cricket … Something deep is personal about playing in ears. Quiet pieces, long days, short moments that no one sees, but he stays with you forever. As I am away from this format, it’s not easy – but it seems right that I have given all this, and I hope that I can do it too.
“I am going away with gratitude filled with gratitude – for the game, for the people with whom I shared the field, and for every person who saw me on the way. I will always look back with a smile. #269, Signing.”
After Kohli’s retirement, Rohit Sharma made a surprise announcement to call his career in the longest format of the game last week.
Despite his tons in the first Test, Kohli could score only 190 runs in nine innings at an average of 23.75 in the final Australian tour in December 2024.
