Punjab Kings opener Prabasimran Singh is faster about his team’s possibilities of making play-offs for the first time since 2014, as it is playing “separate” cricket in Shreyas Iyer-ricky Ponting era. Both Captain Iyer and Head Coach Ponting are in the middle of their first season with Punjab Kings, but Prabhasimran has been around since 2019. He has worked with many captains and coaches in his long term in Punjab Kings, but feels that Iyer-Putting breathes fresh air. He said, “It has been seven years for me with Punjab Kings. So obviously he has given me a lot of support. And you can say that this year, we are playing very different cricket. And I think we are dominating most of the time,” he said in the Star Sports Press Room.
“Unfortunately, the previous match (against KKR) rained. But the possibility of merit is still very high. And of course, if we qualify, we will look at the trophy. The team has trusted me in all these years, now it’s my turn to pay them back.” Punjab Kings have batted with Flair this season and even won low scoring against KKR at home, successfully defended 112.
Prabasimran said, “Our coach is very positive and even the captain. He returns you completely. You don’t have to think what will happen when this happens. Iyer also decides with zero doubt in his mind and accepts it despite the result.”
Prabhasimran was one of the two players made by the franchise in front of the mega auction, the other was Shashank Singh. He established himself at the top of the order in the last few sessions after heating the bench during the early years.
He remembered that it was a sage advice from the great Sachin Tendulkar who pushed him to give his best despite not being in eleven to play.
“Sachin sir said, ‘I was not sitting outside. But I still like to tell you that if you have come from this distance, then how much you can learn from here? Because there will be many more who will only be happy, where I am’.
“So when he put this in my mind, I used to think that if it does not, it will be in the next one.”
