Princeton Star Caden Pierce to Redshart, Graduate, Transfer

Princeton Standout Forward Caden Pierce intended to redshert in the next season to complete his degree before entering the transfer portal to play elsewhere in 2026-27, he told ESPN.
2023-24 Ivian Player of the Year, Pierce said that his decision is “nothing against Princeton” is a by-product of roster and coaching changes.
For example, the first-Team All-EV League Guard Xaivian Lee, was transferred to Florida, while Princeton’s coach Mich Henderson also changed the coaching staff, which also did not include two assistants, which were not retained, said Pierce.
“And of course,” Pierce said, “The current scenario of college basketball is always sitting behind your mind. Those things directed my decision.”
In the previous season, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound junior, Pierce said that he would enter the transfer portal as soon as he could fall in the fall so that he could make a long timeline for his recruitment.
“This poston removes the speed-dating process of the transfer portal,” he said. “It’s going to be interesting because I don’t realize what the entire roster makeup is going to happen for the coming year. … Because I will not join with the team, I can do some trips here and there, can move forward at a slow pace, it will not be so hurry.”
Pierce launched 89 games out of 90 played in three sessions for Princeton, with the team’s Sweet 16 runs in 2023. He scored 11.9 marks on 48.7 percent shooting for tigers to go with 7.9 rebounds.
In the last season, injuries, including two fully torn ligaments and two partially torn ligaments, were in their ankle in December, put a sponge on their junior campaign, although he earned a second-team all-conference honor after an average of 11.2 points, 7.2 boards and 3.2 aid.
