Preliminary 2026 Olympic Roster Filled with NHL stars

Eight out of the 12 countries competing in the men’s hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics released their initial list of participants in the early hours of Monday.
The initial roster is stuffed with NHL players except the team from Italy, with a place in sports as host nation. Milan and Cortina D’Maypazo are hosts city.
This would be the first presence of NHL players at the Olympics as they were held in 2014 in Russia.
An disagreement between NHL and IIHF kept the NHL players out of the 2018 game in PyeongChang, South Korea, and did not play in Beijing in 2022 due to the Kovid-related scheduling issues.
The initial games will begin at the Olympics on 11 February, with the Gold-Medal Game will be played on 22 February. Finland is the defending champion.
The remaining countries – Canada, Denmark, France and the United States – are ready to announce their selection later on Monday.
