Preity Zinta stepped into court on a disputed meeting against Punjab Kings co-owners: Report

Punjab Kings co-owner and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has filed a legal case against her fellow co-director Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia in the Chandigarh court. The three KPH is the director of Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company who owns the company Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Punjab Kings. Preity Zinta has challenged the validity of an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) held on 21 April. He claims that the meeting was held without following appropriate procedures under the Companies Act, 2013 and other secretarial rules. According to him, he objected to the meeting in an email on 10 April, but his objections were ignored. He alleged that Mohit Burman proceeded with the meeting with the support of Ness Wadia.

Even though Zinta and another director, Karan Paul attended the meeting, he has asked the court to declare it invalid. One of his main concerns is the appointment of Munesh Khanna as a director during the meeting, which he and Paul opposed.

In his suit, Zinta has also asked the court to prevent Khanna from working as a director and to prevent the company from making any decision taken in that meeting.

He further requested the court to prevent the company from holding any more boards or general meetings without the appearance of both itself and Karan Paul, and without including Munesh Khanna, until the case is resolved.

Despite these legal issues, Preity Zinta has continued to support Punjab Kings from the stand during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. This year has been a strong for the team.

Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings have already qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2014. With 17 points out of 12 matches, they are currently in third place and are targeting to finish the top-two.

Punjab Kings will play Delhi Capital in Jaipur on Saturday (May 24) to wrap up their league engagement to Mumbai Indians on Monday (May 26).
