PBKs will not win IPL 2025 due to ponting: Tiwary

Manoj Tiwari slammed PBKS coach Ricky Ponting’s decision to promote foreign players in front of Indians
Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has accused Punjab Kings coach Ricky Ponting of favouring overseas batters over Indians in IPL 2025. His remarks come after the KKR vs PBKS clash which was washed out in Kolkata. Both teams received one point each after rain forced the game to be stopped after just one over into KKR’s run-chase.

Australian bias by Ponting in PBKS?
Taking to social media platform X, Tiwary claimed that Ponting sent the likes of Josh Inglis and Glenn Maxwell ahead of Indian batters like Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh. He claimed that if this kind of attitude persisted, then PBKS were far away from lifting the IPL 2025 trophy.
“My gut feeling says that punjab team will not be able to win the IPL trophy this season because what I saw today when they were batting was, the coach didn’t send Indian inform batters Nehal wadera and Shasank singh, instead he trusted his foreign players to deliver, but they cudnt and clearly showed lack of confidence in Indian players down the order. If he persist in this way then the title is far from them irrespective of there qualification in top two,” Tiwary wrote.
What happened in KKR vs PBKS match?
Shreyas Iyer won the toss, and opted to bat first on a tricky Kolkata wicket. Surprisingly, Punjab brought back struggling Glenn Maxwell in. The team went on to score 201 in their stipulated 20 overs. Just after the first over of the chase, rain interrupted play.
