PBKS vs DC not canceled! When IPL 2025 resumes after suspension, the ball starts from one

According to the IPL website, the PBKS VS DC match was released. However, the teams did not get any points from that game.
The IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), which abruptly stopped in Dharamsala on May 8, will now be restarted in full when the tournament resumes. This development comes after the BCCI suspended the IPL 2025 for a week due to escalating tensions along India’s western border. The country is currently at loggerheads with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Why was the PBKS vs DC match halted?
The PBKS vs DC match was suspended around 9:35 PM on Thursday after an unexpected blackout at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium. Officially, a floodlight failure was cited, but reports later confirmed air raid alerts were issued in nearby regions like Pathankot—just 90 km from the venue—after Pakistan launched aerial attacks. Prioritising safety, the BCCI suspended the fixture midway, with just about 25% of the match (10.1 overs) completed. Both Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh hit fifties within that period.
Why so much confusion over PBKS vs DC clash?
The IPL website has marked the match as “abandoned,” leading to confusion. Per MCC Law 12.9, abandonment is allowed due to uncontrollable external circumstances, but the IPL points table was not updated to reflect a shared point. This raised confusion that a final decision had not been made and that a full replay was being considered, especially since both PBKS and DC remain in contention for the playoffs. PBKS, especially were just one win away from sealing the spot in the final four and were massively ahead in the game.
According to the Indian Express, the PBKS vs DC match will indeed be replayed from ball one once IPL 2025 resumes. With 57 matches completed and 17 left, the BCCI is preparing a revised schedule for the remaining games within a two-week window. Franchises have been asked to keep players and staff on standby, as the league could restart later this month, depending on the security situation. This restart will be the fixture that reopens the IPL.
