Post qualifier 2 clash against Mi, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer provoked abuses in Shashank Singh, while refusing to join hands

Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh admitted that he had committed a grave error in the Eliminator of IPL 2025 for which he deserved to be punished by Shreyas Iyer. While PBKS did go on to win the game by 5 wickets, Shashank has provided a clarification why he faced Iyer’s wrath.

Shashank admits grave error against MI

As per The Indian Express, Shashank claimed that it would have been right for Shreyas to slap him, noting that he had been running as he if he was on a beach. He revealed that even his father hadn’t spoken to him till the IPL 2025 final. Shashank also said that Iyer had told him that it wasn’t expected from him but later took him out for dinner.

“I deserve it, Iyer should have slapped me, my father didn’t speak to me till the finals. I was casual, I was walking on the beach not even in the garden. It was a crucial time, Shreyas was clear that I didn’t expect this from you but later he took me out for dinner,” Shashank said.

“No better captain than him”

Singh went on to heap praises on Shreyas, claiming that there was no better captain than him in world cricket. He said that Iyer gave such freedom to his teammates that no one could ever say that he had an “attitude.” Labelling him as a “chill bandaa”, the PBKS finisher claimed that Shreyas was the only captain who had told his team that all suggestions were welcome and that he would listen to it.

Whatever I have spoken to others and seen, there is no better captain than him in current times in world cricket. He gives us freedom, he treats everyone equally. No one will say, Shreyas has an attitude. The youngsters in the dressing room find him to be a chill bandaa. Shreyas is the only captain, who has told us that if anyone has any suggestion during the game, he can come and convey it to him. If he feels it’s the right advice, he will take it. It’s rare,” he points out.
