Pat Cummins takes one hand stunner with his own bowling, rejects Casey Katy

Distributing his second ball of the match, Cummins claimed a catch after a full -length dive.

Pat Cummins is one of the rare three-dimensional players out there. In 64 matches, the Australian Test captain has 304 wickets at 22.14. Although he averages just 17.02 with the bat, he often scores runs when his team needs it the most. His match-winning 44-run knock in the first match of the Ashes 2023 will be remembered for a long time.

Australia was 227/8 and needed 54 runs to win; Cummins won his side the match from there with the bat. Fast bowlers aren’t thought of as great fielders, but the Australian captain remains one of the safest fielders out there. The point is, Cummins can win a match for Australia in all three disciplines.

WATCH Pat Cummins’ stunning catch

In the West Indies vs Australia 2nd Test, Cummins scored a valuable 17-run knock in the first innings. The score doesn’t look like much, but one should know that only 2 batters scored fifties for Australia. Had he not batted well alongside Alex Carey, Australia may have been reduced to 250 instead of 286.

Then came the time to shine with the ball, his main skill. Josh Hazlewood got Kraigg Brathwaite in the second over for a duck in his 100th Test match to give India a good start. Cummins came to bowl in the 9th over and claimed a wicket on his second ball. The wicket in itself wasn’t that great.

But the athleticism that Cummins showed while grabbing a one-handed catch off his own bowling was just otherworldly. He ran to his right, put out a full dive, and managed to pocket the ball with his right hand. To think someone who consistently bowls at 140, to remain fit for years, and fields like this is just mindboggling.
