The Cleveland Guardian on Wednesday nominated the two -time American League Cym Young Award winner Corey Clubber as a special assistant for its pitching staff.

Clubber, who spent most of his 13 -year game career with Cleveland, officially retired in February 2024.

“I think I was deliberately not really looking for anything last year,” Cluber said, per Clevend.com. “He was not playing the first year, I wanted to see where I was mentally, see what felt right.”

Cluber, 39, said that he would be flexible how he would help the pitching staff.

“A lot is known that we go,” he said. “There is nothing set in the stone, but I think it is really trying to find the best ways to contribute for me.”

Cluber had a record of 116-77 with 3.44 ERA in 271 Career Games (260 Start) with Cleveland Franchise (2011–19), Texas Rangers (2020), New York Yankis (2021), Tampa Bay Raz (2022) and Boston Red Sox (2023).

The three-time all-star won two Al-Cy Young Awards with Cleveland in 2014 and 2017. He also threw a no-hitter against Rangers on May 19, 2021.

“It’s just a great fit. It’s a great appearance for our young pitcher,” Pitching coach Carl Willis, who gave coaching to Cluber from 2018-19.

“They know what he completed in his career, especially what he completed here. He is not far away that he can still be related to the player and everything.”
