Players from Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians will wear black armband during their IPL match, which will not facilitate cheerleaders and fireworks on Wednesday to mourn the victims of terrorist attack in Pahgam. The teams may have also inspected a minute’s silence to pay their honors to the people affected by the international condemnation incident.
A BCCI source told PTI, “Two teams players will wear black armband and inspect a minute’s silence in memory of all, who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Pahgam, Kashmir.”
He said, “There will be no cheerleaders on the edge of Mi vs SRH game as a mark of respect. No cracker will burst,” he said.
Militants set fire to citizens at popular tourist places in South Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people and injuring several others.
Resistance Morcha (TRF), which is a part of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack has strongly condemned the world.
The Indian cricket team provoked bilateral cricket with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and recently refused to visit the country for the Champions Trophy, inspiring the ICC to make provisions for a neutral site in Dubai.
