On MS Dhoni’s IPL future, Suresh Raina, Akash Chopra are engaged in fierce debate. Video viral

Chennai Super Kings prepared for their final game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign against Gujarat Titans, a debate on MS Dhoni’s future. In the pre-match show, former Indian cricketers Suresh Raina, Sanjay Bangar, RP Singh and Akash Chopra discussed whether it was time for the prestigious wicket-keeper batsman to hang their shoes. As RP and Raina stood for ‘for’ Dharna, Chopra and Bangar ‘for’ for ‘. However, the debate turned into a hot circle, in which some intensive arguments were made from both sides.

Dhoni looked a little reluctant to bat this year for CSK, sometimes even in the position of number 8, Ravichandran used to promote the choice of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. While Raina and RP suggested that the step was to give others opportunities to flourish, Chopra and Bangar questioned Dhoni’s fitness to bat for that longer.

Here is a part of the debate:

Aaksh chopra: If MS Dhoni was not an uncapulated Indian, will he be part of the CSK team this year?

Suresh Raina: Absolutely, he has been with the team for 18 years. Still, he hit the sixth sixes.

Akash Chopra: The issue is why he is batting at number 7, number 8 or number 9. Your team is not batting well, problems are coming in the top order. Should such a big player bat high? Why reluctant? Is that too fit or not?

Suresh Raina: He feels that he is more comfortable in the last four overs. He is fit, maintaining wickets at the age of 44 years. He conducted an interview in the middle, stating that a team is being formed for the World Cup (T20), so he wants to give others more likely like Shivam Dubey.

RP Singh: After knee surgery, he is bound to take time out. Every player does. He has been keeping for 20 years, manages himself. Raina also performed the knee operation. He managed himself for some time and eventually recovered.

Further in the conversation, Bangar also insisted that Dhoni’s presence in the team is not allowing Ruturaj Gaikwar and Ravindra Jadeja to flourish as leaders.
