The next task for New York City FC will post more positive results on the road.

While the team (in total 9-7-4, 31 points) is an impressive 8-3 at home, it is about the four-match road stretch against Charlot FC starting on Saturday night.

The NYCFC is only 1-4-4 on the road.

“We know that the places we go to, especially in summer, is difficult,” said NYCFC defender Mitja Illnik.

New York City has not won matches continuously from May 17 and 25, but its most recent game against Toronto FC, 3–1 domestic win in July 3.

In its previous three wins, NYCFC has scored at least three goals every time under Coach Pascal Jansen.

The New York City is 1–1-2 in its last four road matches, but never won at Charlots Bank of America Stadium.

Cherlotte (8–11-2, 26 points) failed to gain a two-goal lead in its most recent outing with Orlando City SC on Saturday.

Coach Dean Smith’s Charlotte Club is working with uncertain roosters and is the winner in its last four matches (0-3–1).

Charlotte returned Patrick Agyamang earlier this week, when the US Men’s National Team Striker was played in the ConcacAF Gold Cup. He was then absent from Thursday’s workout amidst the ongoing contract talks. It questions its position at the end of this week, Smith said.

“I wanted to see where his feelings were,” Smith said about a conversation with the player. “… It is always about money.”

Meanwhile, Saturday’s game seems better for NYCFC. Elite goalkeeper Matt Fraz’s return from the US national team comes after Tomas Romero creating some concrete credentials in his absence. The team should help make depth.

“I think I got this opportunity to play,” said Romero. “I am super grateful for this. I did everything that I could do to show the coaches.

Charlotte is relying on Pep Beel, who has seven goals and nine assistance in 20 matches. He reached a 20-goal contribution (goal plus aid) career mark with Charlotte in the last weekend in 29 total matches.
