“Not worked this year”: Pat Cummins cruelly honest SRH’s ‘What If’ season

Sunrisers Hyderabad finished their season with a 110 -run win over Kolkata Knight Riders, and Skipper Pat Cummins said the team had a caliber to make a better effort, but it did not just worked, which was responsible for the failure for the inability to grafts on slow pitches. Known for its ultra-committed approach, SRH started the season with a blast, posted 286 against Rajasthan Royals in its initial game, and closed it with the third largest clan of the season-278. However, inconsistencies in the mid -stage saw him out of the playoff controversy.

Cummins said during the match performance after the match, “Kamal Finnish. Many things have been clicked in the last few matches. Amazing batting. We have caliber, but we do not play worse in some parts. Most often to make the team final. It just didn’t work this year.”

“We are going to get wickets in this way, where we can be maximum, but others where we need to graft in 170, which we did not get right. We feel that a lot of people have got an opportunity. Some injuries and players are really happy with the team despite going out. It seems that we used 20 players.” But defending champion KKR finished his campaign on a disappointing note, finishing eighth out of 14 matches with 12 points.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane recalled the omission opportunities and admitted that poor execution with the ball gave him a lot of cost because he was excluded for 168 in the chase of 279.

“I felt that they had really batted well. Yes, we made some errors while bowling. The way they batted, they capitalized on all loose balls and hit all good balls as well. Credit also goes to SRH batsmen, their intention was really good,” Rahane said.

“We discussed slowly bowling on the balls, as well as bowling widely, bowling wide slow balls, but sometimes if the bowlers do not actually perform the plan well, then batsmen and batsmen like all SRH batsmen … they really bat well.

“We were low on our execution part, but also made a lot of errors in the innings as a bowling unit.” While depicting the overall season, Rahane said: “Throughout the season, we had our moments, we had our opportunities, 2-3 close games that we thought we thought we did not play as a team as a team.

“In addition, we tried our best, we gave our best. Such a format, you must be switched every time. This format is really difficult, this IPL is really difficult. As a team, as a team, we had those opportunities, we probably had number one or two in the table.

“But, no regrets, a lot to learn from this season. All the players made their best, gave their best. We will really come back to really strong,” he said.
