Lucknow super legendary spinner Digvesh Rathi has emerged as one of the new stars of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has made his name with a disciplined bowling performance with his trademark notebook celebrations, which also punishes him with the eyeball as well as the BCCI. However, his hard journey for stardom is one of patience and determination. Sunny, Digvesh’s brother, revealed how the family faced challenges and even advised to leave Delhi due to financial problems. However, it did not break Digwesh’s flexibility, which showed a tremendous promise and made his dream come true.

“Digwesh had no godfather, we had no money or influence. We were advised to go out of Delhi. Part Bhag Kyun Jai (but why we will run)?” Sunny, who now works as a police constable in Mandoli jail premises, told The Indian Express.

Digwesh, who was bought by LSG for Rs 30 lakh, initially started as a batsman, but the lack of practice in the nets inspired him to convert into a bowler. A fan spinner from Sunil Narin designed his action and bowling style model after the West Indies cricketer and his performance earned him a lot of praise.

“When it was Digwesh’s turn to bat, most of the good bowlers were indifferent to bowling because he was not a known name. When he played good strokes against him, his ego was also hurt. The player also brought his cricket balls, so he did not want to waste it. I wanted to face a Balman for hours,” said a Batman, “said the snoutman.

Digwesh caught the eyes of former Indian cricket team wicket-keeper Better Vijay Dahiya, who asked him to train him in his academy. However, his big moment came in the Delhi Premier League, where he took 14 wickets for South Delhi Superstars.
