“No DJ, Dancing Girls”: Sunil Gavaskar’s blunt message resumes as IPL, keeping in mind those who ‘lose dear people’




The IPL 2025 will resume again on 17 May after a week interval. As the Indo-Pakistan border tension increased, the BCCI issued a statement last week on Friday: “At this significant turn, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We save their solidarity with the Government of India, Armed Forces and our country. Recent terrorist attacks and unfair aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.”

The border tension increased after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April. 26 citizens – 25 Indians and 1 Nepal Citizen – lost their lives. As an honor of the dead, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar felt that the remaining IPL 2025 matches should not have any entertainment (apart from performance).

“What would I really like to see, these are the last few matches. I think we had about 60 games or an over.

“Let’s just a tournament, balance a tournament. Any dance girls, nothing. Just cricket would be a very good way to respect the spirit of those families who have lost their close and dear people.”

The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) The Indian Premier League (IPL) is fed up with the participation of foreign players in the remaining matches of 2025, which is ready to resume on May 17 after a week suspension due to the Indo-Pakistan struggle.

The BCCI has left the franchise to share the details about the return of the players, who left for their respective countries after the league suspension on 9 May, when Pakistan launched missiles and drone attacks at several places along the border. The attacks by the Indian defense system were thwarted, but the BCCI decided to suspend the league as a precautionary measure.
