Nitish Rana broke silence on the appointment of Ryan Parag because RR stand-in skipper on him

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson fought with fitness issues in the beginning of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Ryan Parag was given the team leadership baton. Although Samson was fit to bat in some sports earlier, he did not have the fitness required to have an outfield player or to be. Therefore, the management used him only as an impact player. It is the responsibility of the team’s captaincy in that situation to see the parague, surprising many people.
Rajasthan Royals all -rounder Nitish Rana, who has also led Kolkata Knight Riders in the past, was also a name that was suggested by some people. But Rana feels that the management made the correct call by giving Parag a role of leadership.
“When I was made the captain of KKR, I was with the team for 6-7 years. This helped a lot because I understood the culture and environment of the team. Now, with RR, I think Ryan thinks that Ryan knows the team’s setup better than me. And I think it was the perfect decision by the management,” Rana said against Deli Capital in IPL 2025.
“If they asked me, of course, I would happily accept the captaincy. But what matters the most for the team. And I think they made the right call.”
Nitish hit the ground for Royals this season, scoring 81 runs against Chennai Super Kings. Since then, however, he has managed to produce scores of only 12, 1 and 4 (not out). The all -rounder, however, is not very upset and only eager to complete the role given by the team to him.
“Things are very different on the ground. Sometimes, the match’s position asks for something else. Often, a left-right combination in the format like IPL becomes very important. In some matches, I did not get much chance to bat.”
“I try my best to fulfill whatever the team demands me.
