NHL Free Agency Winner: Panthers hold firm, swing for Hurricane Cup

If one thing is that we can all agree after the first wave of NHL -free agency, then Florida Panthers are big winners.

Their discovery for the third consecutive Stanley Cup is closed for a strong start, thanks to the return of lead players Aaron Ekblad, Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand.

Everyone said, the panthers have retained most of the squads which make their way through the playoffs. Certainly, they will face some salary-cap gymnastics and will not have much flexibility for late season additions, but the offsen performance of GM Bill Zito is at the first rate.

Reeling in panthers will not be easy – but some teams have taken aggressive steps to try.

No team was tougher than taking out a Florida in the final of the Eastern Conference: Carolina Storm. Only time will tell if the revived compartment could close the difference, but they were credited for being bold in a free-agent market which was otherwise heavier.

Some of the players of the note reached even free agency, but Carolina would have given the largest name available to the Nicolaz Ehlars by signing an average annual price of $ 8.5 million at an average of the six -year deal.

It was a bold step – but also a sensible. Ehlers, in the east, brings very important scoring and aggressive nature to the club that struggles to eliminate opportunities against Florida, Florida. The storm can be the only true contender with cap space to meet its demands.

The rale overshadowed a very productive week.

Hurricane began by signing an eight -year extension to Rising Star Forward Logan Stancwen, closing a player with the best days ahead. He is expected to be a main piece for the next decade.

Most of Carolina’s future success hinges on how well the defenseman K&R Miller adapted and signed an eight -year extension after being acquired from New York Rangers. Miller, one of the most promising young Blueliners of the league, struggled in the last two sessions in New York.

But he now joins a team known for his defensive structure, unlike the more chaotic environment with Rangers. The storm knows that they are taking a risk on Miller and paid a steep price- first- and the second round pics, plus prospect defenseman Scott Maro- but the step fits a franchise that believes that it is at the tail of a title.

Carolina’s structured, miller’s transition to the team-first system can unlock the ability that has earlier distinguished her in her career-and it may be that the storm needs to unheard the panthers at the end.

But is it enough?

Carolina still has a lack of ideal size to move to toe with Florida. At some point, they may need to upgrade their goals to really pursue a cup.

Nevertheless, in an offsen, where most teams preferred their own players, who instead of maintaining bold, roster-rolling tricks, stood out with big swings to get Mich Morner through business and sign the Michas Golden Nights instead of maintaining the roster-moving tricks.

Now, it is a matter of whether this boldness leads to the success of the Stanley Cup.
