Neil Shipli grateful for unique discount in Charles Schwab Challenge

Neil Shipli, with the trophy after the fifth playoff hole on the 18th hole, won the tournament with a stroke at the Lakewood National Golf Club in Lakewood National Golf Club in Florida on April 19, 2025 after drowning 38-feet put.

The colonial country club has a special tradition about its annual PGA Tour stop, known as Charles Schwab Challenge these days.

This is called The Champions Choice: The previous tournament champions select two players for a special invitation in the field each year. This week, the champion options were Neil Shiple and Blade Brown.

Brown is 17 -year -old, who changed the supporters in winter, and Shiple with good -tempered Shiple captured the imagination of golf fans in 2024, which ended as a low amateur in both the Masters and the US Open.

Shiple told reporters on Tuesday, “It turned out to be on a large scale that I can compete in those biggest stages, so when I come out from here, I know that I can beat most people from here.” “I think this is something that does not get out of college to a lot of young professionals, so are really grateful to those two experiences.”

After being depicted on Netflix Docuseries “Full Josh”, as well, Shipli is removing its professional dreams and is grateful to the opportunity in Fort Worth, Texas.

“I am really respected that some of my colleagues chose me to give me that exemption and really encouraged me for a great week,” he said. “The golf course is in unprecedented shape, and the membership here has done just a terrible job in the colonial that welcomes us to their curriculum.”

Shipli is getting its second PGA tour start of the season as he works towards earning his card through Corn Ferry Tour. He cut the Vilsar Championship in March and finished 47th.

Since that time, Shiple won her first professional title by winning a playoff at the Leakom Suncost Classic on the Corn Ferry Tour in April.

Shiple said, “This year we have a lot of attention on Corn Ferry Tour, joining one of those top 20 spots”. “… There are very good opportunities, and I am able to play a tour event. I want to be out of here. This is where I want to play.”

Shipli was to play at the Corn Ferry Tour event in the Dallas-Fort Worth region earlier this month, and it is safe to say that he is happy to come back.

“I like to live in Texas. If I don’t live in Florida, I probably live here.” “Yes, super excited. Barbecue food here is just very elite, so cannot beat it.”
