Neeraj Chopra moved to the classic Javelin throw event to Bangalore. The reason is

On May 24, the first version of the Neeraj Chopra Classic Jewelin throw event has been transferred from Panchkula to Bengaluru due to insufficient lighting at the original site for live telecast, but the area will be with the stars as Anderson Peters and Thomas Roaler’s choice confirms their participation. Peters, who live from Granada, are two-time world champions and Rohaller is the golden-middle house of the 2016 Olympics. Chopra said that he has also invited Pakistani Olympic champion Arshad Madem, which is still to confirm participation.
Chopra told reporters in a virtual media conversation on Monday, “I have sent an invitation to Arshad and said that he would come back to me after discussing with his coach. He is not confirmed the participation yet.”
The competition has been given category A status by World Athletics, which has also changed the site of the program on its calendar.
“I wanted an event in Panchkula, but the stadium there has some issues related to light (floodlight). The need for world athletics is 600 Lux (a measure of light intensity) for international broadcasting, which is not (in Panchkula) and it will take time (to install it).”
“Therefore for this year we have decided to move the program at the Kantirwa Stadium in Bangalore. I have talked to the Chief Minister of Karnataka. We have a JSW team to take care of every aspect in successfully conducting the program. I think I think the evening season will be absolutely right for athletes and fans in Bangalore.”
“Our effort is to give fans the best experience and give the best hospitality to foreign participants.”
The event will be organized by Chopra and JSW Sports in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics, which will feature Indian spear throwing along with top global as well.
Athlete of Khandra village in Haryana said, “I am very much involved in the organization of this event. It is a long -running dream for me to organize such programs in India. It is a dream true for me.”
“I am very excited. I have won the Olympics and other medals for the country. Now with this incident, I am giving Indian athletics, Indian athletes and fans something.” Apart from Peters, who also won the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and in the Rio Olympics of Rio Olympics, a silver-medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics, in addition to the participation of Kenya Julius Yigo, has also done the 2015 World Championship Gold winner, and American Currtis Thompson, which is the current seasons with 87.76M.
Chopra said without naming, “Some more European athletes will be added. A Brazilian, who has qualified for the final in (Paris Olympics), has also confirmed the participation,” Chopra said without naming, although it could be Loise da Silva, which could be the 11th position in Paris with the best Thro of 80.67 meters.
“I’m also competing. I will compete with three to four Indians, I spoke to Rohit (Yadav) tomorrow. It will be a very good chance for Indians to get a ranking points for the World Championship in Tokyo (September).” He said that his current coach Jan Zelejony, who is a famous world record holder, suggested that the program should be named after the Indian superstar.
He said, “I was talking to Zelezny about the incident and he said that it would be good if it is in my name. I was also inspired by some programs organized by famous athletes and was participating as Mondo Classic and Kip Kino classic,” he said.
In Nairobi, Kip Kino classic is named after Kipachoomi Kino, who is running at the Kenai distance, while Sweden’s pole vault legend Armando Duplantis, both world athletics containntal tour events both organize both Mondo classic.
Chopra said that the neck classic will be an annual competition and he is hoping that other incidents other than Jewelin will be added in the future.
“I wanted to tell that this incident would be an annual case. By now, it will be just a male spear incident. But in the future, I hope to add other events to be.
“We (India) long jumps (men and women) are good in 3000 meter steepleches, and we can add these events in the future. Men’s 100 meters is doing well, time is better and better.
“It was surprising for me that this incident got a category of world athletics. We will try to bring a Diamond League meeting in India. We have a stadium to host DL meetings, and it would also be good for world athletics to spread athletics that spreading athletics. The world athletics knows that athletics is growing in India.” Fans will need to buy tickets to watch NC Classic Jewelin event.
Chopra said, “There will be tickets for the incident, different prices for different seats and blocks. But we will try that the ticket price is not very high. Fans should feel that the ticket price is worth seeing the incident.”
Chopra started its season on a high by winning the Potch Invitational Track event in Potchefstroom, South Africa with a throw of 84.52 meters.
His next program will be the couplet legs of Diamond League meetings on 16 May.
Chopra said on his participation in organizing the event, “I have never gone to such details, even if floodlights were enough for live telecasting, whether the washroom and changing room are comfortable for international spears, etc. I have never considered such things.”
