“Need to be developed”: Flight assessment of Matheesha Pathirana of CSK bowling coach

Chennai’s Super Kings bowling coach Eric Simmons has defended MaThesh Pathirana amid his unwavering looks in this IPL season, stating that opposition batsmen have started reading and adopting him better for him. The five -time champion was removed from the IPL play -off race on Wednesday when he lost to Punjab Kings, his eighth defeat in 10 outings. Pathirana, known for its sling action, has lost the control of her in the previous season. Earlier, CSK head coach had said that the form was the reason for the decline in the form due to change in action.
Simmons said at the press conference after the match, “It has been quite well documented that there was a slight change in an action. But he has come back where he was and just in terms of his arm height on a consistent basis,” Simmons said in the post -press conference after the match.
“I am not sure that he is less accurate. The batsmen are playing him much better. We can definitely see a trend in such a way that the batsmen are playing against him, especially against Mumbai.
He said, “The technology they are using, understand what their plans are and what they do.”
Pathirana has taken nine wickets in the economy of 33.11 and 10.39 on an average of eight matches this season. He is also guilty of many widespread bowling.
Simmons feels that the Sri Lankan pacer needs to be developed as the batsmen have found a way to score against him.
“So development, maybe he may be cleverly ahead of what he needs to do to develop. The batsmen need to develop, bowlers need to develop.
“Tonight, his channels are quite good. His lines are quite good. Obviously, he got his length, he would like a full length, but the batsmen are treating him differently this year.” Simmons feels that CSK needs to be “cleverly smart” in important moments to win the game.
“I think as a team, during batting and bowling, there are very few fields that we want to try and we want to be more accurate about what we want to do. But as a unit, people have done a lot of work.
“This is about winning those big overs. Every and then you are sitting there and going, if we are really tight, the game changes.
“Sometimes you get away in the previous ball or the second-final ball and sometimes don’t understand how to come out of an over. I think in important moments there are cleverly smarts are probably some development areas that we always need to work on.”
